Did you know? Studies show that nearly 82% of remote workers experience burnout, stress, or feelings of isolation.
Working remotely has its perks, but it can also blur the lines between personal and professional life, making it harder to prioritize mental wellness. Let’s take on my client’s example…..
Maria’ loved the flexibility of working from home. But, over time, she noticed her mornings were blending into her evenings, and weekends felt no different than weekdays. She missed the commute she once dreaded; it had been her buffer to recharge and disconnect. Now, she felt drained and mentally cluttered. Sound familiar?
Here’s what helped Maria reset:
1️⃣ Create Boundaries: Maria defined her workspace and work hours to avoid overworking. Remember, it’s ok to log off.
2️⃣ Stay Connected: To avoid isolation, Maria set up regular virtual coffee breaks with a colleague, keeping the sense of community alive.
3️⃣ Take Mindful Breaks: She scheduled short, mindful breaks to step away from her screen. By stretching, grabbing water, or listening to music, she felt more refreshed and focused.
4️⃣ End-of-Day Rituals: Maria adopted a calming, 5-minute evening ritual that signalled work was over. It was her cue to disconnect and transition into home life.
If remote work is taking a toll, start with one small change. Remember, just like Maria, a healthy balance is possible!
